Our Story

The holiest things the world has known were always kept apart — for kings, for temples, for the sacred.

SHEPHERD exists because we believe God has always found the ordinary worthy of the holy. What was once set apart for Him is now placed in your hands.

To be the vessel He pours through,
and a fragrant reminder of the Creator of it all.

This is why Shepherd exists

Founder's Story

Our Founder made this
for herself first.
For three years.

"My story began with a skin condition that held through antibiotics, through dietary changes, through every intervention I was offered. What finally quieted it came from none of them. It came as a gift of wisdom, and reading the back of a label."

I had spent years around the best the beauty industry sells. In my modeling career I used the most expensive products from the most coveted brands, the ones promising clean, promising luxury, promising results. On my own skin, none of it held.

So I prayed. I asked God to heal my skin, and His answer came in a way I did not expect.

What I found sent me the other direction entirely: toward the natural, the organic, the simple. My faith made me turn to the natural things of the earth, and I found there was so much wonder in natural remedies, and even bigger, in ancient, sacred botanicals.

So I built my own formula. The first ingredients came together quickly, and my skin settled. Over time, as my faith deepened, the formula changed with me. I added the resins and the oil that run through Scripture, present at the dwelling place of God. Skin science and the sacred, combined in one daily use. It turned out beautiful.

For three years I wore it privately. People asked what I had on. Those closest to me kept telling me to share it. I resisted for a long time, partly because creating a company is not easy, and partly because making it well, and making it right, was an enormous undertaking I wasn't sure I wanted to carry.

After a while, I finally answered the call, and created SHEPHERD.

What had been given was never meant to be kept a secret — and I am so happy to finally share it with you.

Founders Note

A message
from the founder:

There is something quietly extraordinary about the fact that the incense God specified for His own dwelling place, the resin present at the birth and burial of Jesus Christ, the oil Mary poured out in her most devoted act for the Messiah. These are not museum artifacts behind glass, they are presented here, for you.

Not to make holiness a commodity, but to participate in it. For most of history these were kept for the altar and the anointed. I do not believe they were meant to end there. I believe they were meant to reach you.

You are worthy of God's love. He has always said so.

Egypt & the Ancient World

Frankincense and Myrrh appear in Egyptian medical papyri and temple inscriptions, among the oldest recorded therapeutic preparations in human history. Used in temple rituals, sacred embalming, and the daily care of pharaohs and priests. Among the most precious things their civilization possessed.

Ebers Papyrus

The Holy of Holies

God commands Moses to compound a sacred incense — frankincense among its ingredients — reserved exclusively for the presence of God. The High Priest entered the Holy of Holies carrying it. The fragrance marked the boundary between the sacred and the common. These are not metaphors. They are the oldest known instructions for the use of these botanicals.

David, Solomon & The Temple

The Psalms speak of garments fragrant with myrrh. Solomon builds the Temple and the sacred fragrances burn within it daily. Spikenard appears in the Song of Solomon as the fragrance of the beloved. Precious, intimate, irreplaceable. Present at the anointing of kings, at consecration, at worship.

The Birth of Christ

The most famous gifts in human history are two of the three ingredients in The Healing Balm. The Magi carried frankincense and myrrh across desert and distance to lay them before the newborn King. The ancient world knew exactly what these botanicals were worth.

Matthew 2:11

The Anointing

Mary pours Spikenard over the feet of Jesus — an act so extravagant those present were offended. Christ says it will be told wherever the Gospel is preached.

Jesus Christ's Burial

At Jesus Christ's burial, seventy-five pounds of myrrh prepare His body. From the manger to the tomb, all three ingredients are present.
